Relax in a comfortable air conditioned motor coach as you travel from Barcelona to Penedes to visit the Torres Wine Cellars. Learn more about the history of wine, the Torres family, visit the Mas La Plana vineyards in a small train and taste some of the two wines made here. You will not miss out on anything as a professional tour guide gives commentary in English and Spanish. You also explore the 1,236 m Montserrat Mountains that has varied rock formations that have been formed over centuries from soil. At the 1025 Royal Basilica of Montserrat, you get to see the “Black Madonna” which is the statue of Virgin of Montserrat that is dedicated to the patron saint of Catalonia. You get three hours for lunch with several optional activities. You will then head to one of the most beautiful villages in the coast of Catalonia that boasts numerous beautiful beaches. You have an option of visiting the Barcadi House to learn how to make Cuba Libre and Mojito which are famous rum cocktails.

You will depart Barcelona in a comfortable air conditioned motor coach for Penedes region which is home to the famous Torres Wine Cellars to learn not only about the process of wine making, but also to taste some of the greatest wines. For this tour, just ensure that you are in comfortable clothes and shoes as there is a lot of walking involved. Through your senses, you get to experience the world of wine, you learn more about the Torres family that started the winery through an audiovisual introduction and taste two of the wines prepared here. Experience the history of Penedes wineries in the state of Mas La Plana vineyards aboard a small train. Learning more about the origin of wine making up to date in a multisensory experience is the highlight of your visit. There are also aging barrels that are a must see and the entrance fee to the wineries is taken care of.

From the Torres Wine Cellars, you board the tour bus and head to the 1,236 m (4,051 ft) Montserrat Mountains with the tour guide giving commentary in Spanish and English. The mountains are made up of varied forms that have been formed over the centuries by rain and wind from soil. Legends have explained about the origin with the rock formations coming in different shapes that people believe some are for animals while others are for human beings. In the Benedict sanctuary of Montserrat that dates back to 1025 or the Royal Basilica of Montserrat as it is also known, you get to see the famous 12th Century Black Madonna or Verge Moreneta. This statue is dedicated to the patron saint of Catalonia (Virgin of Montserrat) and it cannot be entered while in strapless shirts, sandals, tank tops of even short shorts. Pilgrims who have been coming here over the centuries have claimed to have seen miracles being performed by the virgin. Due to the popularity with the pilgrims, the Montserrat was modernized.

Lunch and drinks are not included in the tour cost but you will be given three hours to enjoy your lunch. There are several activities that you can engage in during this time that are included in the tour cost while some others are not. Tasting four liquors that are handmade by the monastery monks and listening to an audiovisual exhibition about the Montserrat is already catered in the tour cost while riding the Santa Cova Funicular and visiting the Museum are not catered for. Another activity is enjoying the spectacular views of the mountain as you enjoy a walk along the trails. The Espai Audiovisual Montserrat explains more about the important of the monastery as a pilgrimage site as well as the natural creation of the mountain and the history of the sanctuary.

One of Europe’s oldest boys’ choirs in Europe that dates back to the 14th century is actually located here and sings in the monastery at specific timings. If you are lucky enough, you can watch the Escolania of Montserrat as they go about their amazing performances since this depends whether they have special events and also on the school calendar.

From the exciting trip of Montserrat, you will board the tour bus and depart for the fishing village of Sitges which has over the time become a popular tourist destination. Its beautiful Mediterranean sandy beaches, its micro climate, the narrow streets of its picturesque old town and the vibrant culture that it boasts are some of the things that have contributed to many tourists including it in their holiday. Once you are in the village of the Catalonian coast, you will discover the reason it is classified as one of the most beautiful. You have an option of visiting the Barcadi House of Sitges with the visit starting at 1845 hours.
